Beach Temporarily Closed at Robert Morris Park

The park remains open, but the beach will be closed Monday, July 14 through Monday, July 21.

The beach is tested weekly by the Kalamazoo County Health and Community Services (KCHCS) Department. Sample results were collected on Monday July 14, 2025. The geometric mean of all samples collected over the last 30-day period is 135.73 E. coli per 100 ml, which exceeds the total body contact standard of 130 E. coli per 100 ml. The geometric mean over a 30-day period is an indicator that there is a chronic problem and it is advised to apply caution with total body contact with the surface water. Out of an abundance of caution, the Comstock Township Parks and Recreation Department has closed the Beach.

KCHCS will collect additional samples on Monday July 21, 2025, and expects to make the results available on Tuesday July 22, 2025. When surface water quality meets the above-mentioned Water Quality Standards the public health advisory will be lifted, and the beach will be opened to the public.

Robert Morris Park Beach patrons are encouraged to contact their health provider with questions pertaining to an illness. Questions concerning the water sampling program at Robert Morris Park or Michigan Water Quality Standards may be directed to KCHCS at (269) 373-5337.
