SWMLC Pollinator Hike

Tuesday, August 25 from 5:30 – 7 PM

at Chipman Preserve (8400 block of E Main St, Kalamazoo, MI)

Join Southwest Michigan Land Conservancy for an exploration of the wonderful world of pollinators! On this hike, we’ll meet some of the pollinators of Chipman Preserve, learn about the important role they play in our ecosystems, and find out more about what we can do to help them.

Parks for Pollinators BioBlitz

Help us map the pollinators of Comstock Township! Throughout September, we’re inviting the community to observe and record the bees, butterflies, moths, beetles, and other pollinators living in our parks. Every observation adds to a shared picture of local biodiversity and helps guide how we care for these spaces.

Volunteer to Help Restore Our Parks

1st Wednesday of May – October from 1 PM – 3 PM

Wednesday, September 2nd from 1 PM – 3 PM at Cooper Park (6183 Oran Ave, Kalamazoo, MI 49048)
Wednesday, October 7th from 1 PM – 3 PM at Location TBD
- Either Cooper Park or Robert Morris Park, based on our progress in September

Help restore Comstock Township’s parks by removing invasive plant species!

Led by Kalamazoo Nature Center crew members, these hands-on workdays will focus on removing invasive plant species. We’ll start at Cooper Park and work until it’s clear of invasives, then move on to the next park in the series. No experience needed. Tools provided.

Applications are now open for the 2026 season. Local growers, producers, and makers who want to connect with the community and share their products with market shoppers are welcome to apply!

The Market will be on Mondays, 3 – 6 PM, June – September 21 at Merrill Park.
