Water and Sewer

Public Water Connections

Comstock Township has water service contracts with both the City of Kalamazoo and the City of Galesburg.  If you are interested in connecting to public water, please call or come into the Township office.  We can determine if public water is available at your address, which city your address is served by, and calculate any assessment that may be owed to the Township.  Based on which city will provide your water service, we can also help determine the connection fee you will be charged by that city.  If you choose to move forward with connection, you will need to fill out a Township water service application and pay any assessments owing to the Township.  You will then be issued a form that you will take to appropriate city hall to apply for connection.

Note:  Comstock Township does not require connection to public water.

Public Sewer Connections

Comstock Township has a wastewater contract with the City of Kalamazoo.  If you are interested in connecting to public sewer, please call or come into the Township office.  We can determine if public sewer is available at your address, the sewer lead location, and calculate any assessment that may be owed to the Township.  Each single-family home is also required to pay a $2,000 benefit fee to the Township.  Multi-family homes and commercial connections will pay a benefit fee as determined by our User Unit Charge Schedule found below.  If you choose to move forward with connection, you will need to fill out a Township sewer service application and pay any assessments owing to the Township along with the benefit fee.  It’s the responsibility of the homeowner to contract with the plumber of their choice to make the physical connection to the sewer lead.

Note:  Comstock Township does not require connection to public sewer.  However, State law may require connection under certain circumstances.
