Campbell Lake is Temporarily Closed!

Campbell Lake is Temporarily Closed at Robert Morris Park

The beach is tested weekly by the Kalamazoo County Health and Community Services (KCHCS) Department.  Sample results collected on Monday, June 30 noted E. coli levels to be over 700 per 100 ml, which exceeds the total body contact standard of 300 E. coli per 100 ml.  Based upon these sample results, KCHCS has advised the public to avoid total body contact with the surface water in the bathing beach area on Campbell Lake. Out of an abundance of caution, the Comstock Township Parks and Recreation Department has closed the Beach.

KCHCS has collected additional samples today July 1, 2025, and expects to make the results available on Wednesday, July 2, 2025. When surface water quality meets the above-mentioned Water Quality Standards the public health advisory will be lifted, and the beach will be opened to the public.

Robert Morris Park Beach patrons are encouraged to contact their health provider with questions pertaining to an illness.  Questions concerning the water sampling program at Robert Morris Park or Michigan Water Quality Standards may be directed to KCHCS at (269) 373-5337.
