Comstock Fire and Rescue Department partners with the American Red Cross to host a community blood drive.

Give the gift of a second chance at life this year!

The Comstock Fire and Rescue Department will host a community blood drive with the American Red Cross on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, from 12 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. at Fire Station 9-1, 1960 River St Kalamazoo, MI 49048.

For more information or to make an appointment to donate, call (1-800) 733-2767 or visit RedCrossBlood.org (sponsor code: Comstock).

The Comstock Fire & Rescue Department is dedicated to working with the Red Cross to ensure local hospitals and first responders can meet the needs of patients through blood donations. Blood is a perishable product that can only come from volunteer blood donors, according to the Red Cross.

“Donating blood helps ensure that we’re prepared to save lives before an emergency happens,” said Comstock Fire and Rescue Chief Matt Beauchamp, “There’s no better gift than giving someone a second chance at life.” According to the Red Cross, nearly every 2 seconds a patient in America needs blood or platelets. A single donation of blood can save more than one life.

Donors with all blood types are needed, but especially those with types ) negative, A negative, and B negative.
