Comstock Charter Township begins projects to improve Township cemeteries

Comstock Township, MI- Comstock Charter Township began two major projects to expand and improve our two cemeteries in the Township on Monday, July 31, 2023.

We are adding 1,200 more plots to Comstock Cemetery. 825 of those will be full plots, and 375 will be cremation-only plots. We are expanding Comstock Cemetery into the old baseball diamonds on Neal Street. With very few plots left in Comstock Cemetery, this expansion will ensure burials can continue in this historic cemetery for generations to come.

The Township will be adding a new entrance for Comstock Cemetery on Neal Street and closing the current entrance. This will make entering Comstock Cemetery safer and easier for visitors and funeral processions.

A 64-niche columbarium (cremation wall) is being produced by Coldspring Memorial and is expected to be installed at Maple Grove Cemetery by the end of November.

“Comstock Cemetery and Maple Grove Cemetery provide a quiet, peaceful, and beautiful place to lay loved ones to rest and are convenient to visit,” said Comstock Charter Township Clerk Nicole Beauchamp, “Both cemeteries have been an important part of the community and more space is required so they can continue to remain so.”

Both projects are expected to be completed by the end of 2023. Those looking to reserve a plot can contact the Comstock Charter Township Clerk. A map showing the preliminary drawing of the Comstock Cemetery expansion and a drawing of the Maple Grove Columbarium is included below.
