The Road Commission of Kalamazoo County

KALAMAZOO, MI – The Road Commission of Kalamazoo County (RCKC) will be performing construction on South Sprinkle Road between I-94 and N Avenue/Kilgore Road. The project will include asphalt milling and resurfacing, ramp upgrades, curb and gutter work, and storm sewer improvements. Work is slated to begin April 3, 2023, and to be completed by June 23, 2023, weather permitting.

A single lane in both directions is expected to stay open throughout the duration of the project. Driveways, streets, and businesses on the side of the road where work is occurring may be inaccessible at times via Sprinkle Road (they will be available via other routes). Commutes along this route may also encounter delays. Please follow all posted detours.

Sprinkle Road at the railroad crossing will be entirely closed for approximately 2-3 weeks between May 1st and May 20th for the railroad company to perform railroad crossing improvements. The RCKC and the railroad company have collaborated timelines in order to reduce effects on the motoring public. During this time traffic will be detoured to Cork Street, Portage Road, and Kilgore Road.

A project informational meeting will be held Wednesday, March 29th at 6:00pm. The meeting will be held at the Road Commission of Kalamazoo County board room, located at 3801 E Kilgore Rd, Kalamazoo, MI 49001. If you’re unable to attend this meeting, we will post a recording of the project information meeting on our website following the meeting here: https://www.kalamazoocountyroads.com/projects.php.
